Clinical Notes

The hemoglobin A1c test measures the percentage of hemoglobin A in your blood that has glucose attached. The more glucose there is in the blood, the more of it will be bound to hemoglobin. Since red blood cells live about three months, your hemoglobin A1c test result corresponds to your average blood glucose level throughout the three months before your test.
